International Meteor Conference 2005

Most national airlines (e.g. SN Brussels Airlines) fly to Zaventem airport (very close to Brussels). Zaventem is also used by Virgin Express. Other low-fares airline Ryanair flies to Eindhoven (just across the border in The Netherlands) and Charleroi airport (also known as "Brussels South"). People coming from the UK might consider flying VLM, the Flemish airline, to Antwerp Deurne airport.

There is no railway station close to the conference center. Antwerp-Berchem is probably the best choice to hop off. Deutsche Bahn has a very useful website if you're planning to travel by train.

Eurolines has some direct connections from various Eastern-European countries. A return ticket between Praha and Antwerp costs about 108 EUR. Budapest-Antwerp return about 154 EUR. Warsaw-Antwerp return is about 100 EUR. (prices October 2004)

From direction Ghent, Brussels, Antwerp: from the Antwerp ringway (R1), follow direction Eindhoven, Hasselt, Luik (E34-E313). After approximately 10km keep right to follow the E34 towards Turnhout, Eindhoven. Take exit 20 (Zoersel) and turn right onto the N14 (direction Malle, Zoersel). Follow for about 8 km till the centre of Oostmalle. At the traffic lights turn right onto the Turnhoutsebaan (N12). After 960m, turn left onto the Guido Gezellelaan. The conference center is after 300m at your right.

From direction Eindhoven: Follow the E34 towards 'Turnhout, Eindhoven'. Take exit 21 ('Lille') and follow the N153 direction 'Oostmalle'. At the end of the road turn right. At the traffic lights turn right onto the Turnhoutsebaan (N12). After 960m, turn left onto the Guido Gezellelaan. The conference center is after 300m at your right.

From direction Breda: Follow the E19/A1 direction Antwerp. Take exit 4 (Sint-Job-in-'t Goor) and turn right. At the traffic lights after about 1.2 km, turn left. After 16km, in the center of Oostmalle, turn left onto the N12 (Turnhoutsebaan) and follow for 1080m. Turn left onto the Guido Gezellelaan. The conference center is after 300m at your right. (Planning your trip using exit 1, 2 or 3 will be difficult due to road works!)

From direction Köln, Hasselt: Follow the E313 direction Antwerp. Take exit 19 (Massenhoven) and turn right onto the N14 (direction Malle, Zoersel, Zandhoven). Follow for about 14 km till the centre of Oostmalle. At the traffic lights turn right onto the Turnhoutsebaan (N12). After 960m, turn left onto the Guido Gezellelaan. The conference center is after 300m at your right.

From direction Hoek Van Holland: Follow the GR5-E2 route from Hoek Van Holland (The Netherlands) to Nice (France). At the crossing with the N14 (Turnhoutsebaan), turn left and follow the road for about 6 km. At the traffic lights in the center of Oostmalle, continue on the Turnhoutsebaan for 960m and turn left onto the Guido Gezellelaan. The conference center is after 300m at your right.

From direction France: Follow the GR5-E2 route from Nice (France) to Hoek Van Holland (The Netherlands). At the crossing with the N14 (Turnhoutsebaan), turn right and follow the road for about 6 km. At the traffic lights in the center of Oostmalle, continue on the Turnhoutsebaan for 960m and turn left onto the Guido Gezellelaan. The conference center is after 300m at your right.
