Visas

France is an EU memberstate and part of the Schengen group: EU citizens need their ID-card. Australian, Canadian and US citizens need a valid passport. People who need visa please book an appointment online at the closest French consulate or embassy in your country of residence.

Invitation letters

An invitation letter to obtain visa to attend the IMC in Giron will be delivered after receipt of a properly identified registration form mentioning birthdate, place of birth and official address, passport number and detailed references to prove commitment in meteor work. Fraudulant or poorly motivated requests for invitation letters are ignored without notice.

Weather

Giron has a continental low altitude mountain (1000 m) climate. It is a ski resort, September is generally dry but in any case nights could be cold (5 to 10 Celcius). Anyway for people staying at Chalet de la Fauconière, you can stay inside for the whole IMC !

Temperatures will be below 10°C in the evening/night. Foresee some warm clothing.
Currency

France is in the Euro zone. Be aware that there is no DAB in Giron.

Language

The language is French even in Geneva and in all the "Roman Switzerland". English "may be" spoken by local people, but it is really not sure ;-)

Timezone

During the IMC 2014 the time zone is CEST (Central European Summer Time, UT + 2h).

Electricity:

230V, 50Hz, plug typical for continental EU countries.
