We are very sorry to announce that our dear friend Jean-Louis Rault, who has been an integral part of the IMO for many years, died this morning, 21 July 2022.

Jean Louis Rault (b. 1949) was a French amateur radio astronomer who was President of the Radio Astronomy Commission of the Société Astronomique de France from 2008 to 2019. He was responsible for the radio part of the Vigie-Ciel network, which detects the echoes of the GRAVES space surveillance radar. He was also a Council Member of the IMO and the Director of the IMO Radio Commission until last year.

Minor planet 40081 (1998 MG14) has been named after Jean-Louis.

We will dearly miss him.
