The IMO Meteor Shower Calendar 2027 Is Now Available
The International Meteor Organization has released its Meteor Shower Calendar 2027, edited by Jürgen Rendtel. Now in its thirty-seventh edition, the calendar helps meteor observers plan observing sessions throughout the year and track both regular annual meteor showers and possible enhanced activity predicted by model calculations.
As in previous years, the 2027 calendar provides visibility details, expected shower maxima, moonlight conditions, and observing notes for major and minor meteor showers. Highlights for 2027 include favorable viewing conditions for the Quadrantids, the main η-Aquariid peak, the Southern δ-Aquariids, the Aurigids, and the Ursids. Meanwhile, moonlight will affect visibility for several other showers, including the Perseids, Geminids, Draconids, Orionids, Leonids, and Lyrids.
The calendar also features the updated IMO Working List of Visual Meteor Showers, information on potential meteor activity encounters and daytime showers, and practical guidance for visual, video, photographic, radar, and radio meteor observation methods.
Whether you’re an experienced meteor observer or planning your first session, the IMO Meteor Shower Calendar 2027 is an essential resource for tracking meteor activity all year long.
