Radiant 1.43 -- ftp://ftp.imo.net/pub/software/radiant/ ========================================================= * Reads VISDAT files now. No conversion to PosDat is necessary when you work with the VISDAT package. Rainer Arlt, 2001 July 18 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- * A debugging log file SHIFT.LOG was created in Radiant 1.41 which slowed down the calculation speed and became extremely large upon computing Intersections. Rainer Arlt, 1999 August 29 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- * Additional meteor shift to correct for diurnal aberration was added. This effect is negligible in most cases. The June Bootid, however, showed aberrations of up tp 1 degree due to their low entry velocity. * Meteors can now be drawn on the screen directly. Note that the streaks are the ORIGINAL coordinates. The meteor is shifted slightly to correct for zenithal attraction and diurnal aberration and according to daily radiant motion. * The radiant list RAD14.DBF was slightly updated. Particularly the all geocentric velocities are replaced by the ENTRY velocity which is the measure used by Radiant. * The probability mode works safer now; some lines were not scanned with very small pixel sizes. The algorithm is slightly slower now. * Somtimes the intersection mode crashed. It seems to run much safer now. The speed is not affected. * Bug in the meteor shift correcting for zenithal attraction was fixed. * Bug in the meteor input was fixed. The sitecode was only allowed up to max(integer)=32767; now it can be up to 65535. * Most recent site file VMDBSITE.DBF is included. * NOTE: The postscript output is prepared, but does not properly work yet. Rainer Arlt, 1999 April 25 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- * The main bug regarding the scale correction in probability mode was fixed. Probability distributions with the old version produced artificial high densities in the north-west corner of the display. * The intersection method does not use a minimum intersection angle for the selection of crossings of tracings. It rather gives a weight of sin^2 (intersection_angle) to each of the intersection points. The option "OPTIONS/Calculation/Minimum Inters. Angle" is obsolete. * When using probablities it is strongly recommended to set a lower limit for the angular speed. The mathematically correct treatment of slow meteors produces very dominating probability areas. A useful lower limit of the speed is 5 or 6 deg/s. Set this in "OPTIONS/Calculation/Minimum Angular Speed" * A postscript output option is prepared. It is not yet fully implemented, but at least it should show the distribution properly.
