The angle has clearly been the most > difficult parameter to estimate for the observers The elevation angle is really very unreliable. On the open sky, people can easily give you 30 degrees when the reality was 60 degrees. Much better are data when the observer is sure that an object was visible just above a building (or tree etc). But you must measure on the spot the angular height of that building to get a number. As reported in a letter by Lars Franzen published on CCNet on 22 December 1999, the Danish fireball was seen also from Sweden, namely Gothenburg and Hallands Väderö. These places are at least 150 km east of the ground track you determined. If the height of the fireball were only about 30 km, it would be seen only about 10 degrees above horizon from Sweden, while the reports indicate that it was much higher. The real height was more likely about 80 km, I guess. Also the fireball appearance is inconsistent with a low height. At 30 km, the object would either decelerate and disintegrate quickly or it must have been much brighter.
